KMEA joined SANDAG for Bike to Work Day 5-19-22

KMEA “Wheelie Good Riders”

We joined SANDAG for Bike to Work Day on Thursday, May 19, 2022!

KMEA encourages employees to maintain an active lifestyle and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With over 1,700 miles of bikeways in the region, there are plenty of places to go by bike! The KMEA Group included Rose Rutherford, Sandy Kounphet, Kellyn Baker, Maria Redig, Jason Decker, Matt Fuller, Martin Pham, and Courtney Bonas.

SANDAG (San Diego Association of Governments) annual “Bike to Work” Day was Thursday, May 19th when commuters are encouraged to ditch their cars and go by bike to work. Anyone can participate but registered bicyclists were able to partake in fun activities and giveaways at 100 “Bike to Work” Day pit stops across San Diego County, which ran from 6 to 9 am. “With gas prices rising, now is the perfect time to check out Bike to Work Day. It’s about trying something new – showing folks that biking can be a safe, fun, and fast way to get where you need to go,” said SANDAG Chair and Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear. “In 2022, SANDAG will open 11 miles and start construction on 19 miles of new bikeways to make biking an option that works for all of us across the San Diego region.”
